I used the YouTube feature that lets you see which of your facebook friends are also on youtube so you can subscribe to them. It’s kind of cool. While I was looking through my friends’ accounts, I came across Alex Toast’s Marijuana Song, and I got a kick out of it. Well done, Alex!
The popular cannabis website named after the late Jack Herer and other news agencies reported that Willie Nelson was singing jail house blues in Hudspeth County Jail on marijuana charges. The Texas County has not made much news in the past and are enjoying there 15 minutes of fame.
Willie Nelson was detained and arrested for marijuana possession on Friday, on his way back to Austin, after spending Thanksgiving in California, officials said.
Nelson and his crew, who were aboard the country music star’s tour bus, were stopped Friday morning around 9 a.m., as they went through the border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca.
Agents found 6 ounces of marijuana on the bus.
Nelson was taken to the Hudspeth County Jail where he was charged with marijuana possession.
He posted $2,500 bail and was on his way again.
Willie Nelson has a long association with marijuana, as well as other celebrities in the music industry and beyond. From painters, poets, musicians, sculptors, dancers, filmmakers, and other “arty” types, to psychologists, computer programmers and more, many of the things that we consider artistic, entertaining, and useful, were created under the influence of marijuana.
When the Beatles John Lennon made the news, Art Garfunkel said “If John Lennon is deported, I’m leaving too… with my musicians… and my marijuana.” The Beatles themselves are on record discussing how marijuana influenced their works.
Ringo: Grass was really influential in a lot of our changes, especially with the writers. And because they were writing different material, we were playing differently. We were expanding in all ares of our lives, opening up to a lot of different attitudes.
Paul: One thing that he did introduce us to was pot… Bob came round to our hotel, and he said to us, “Here, try a bit of this.” It is very indiscreet to say this, because I don’t know whether Bob is telling people he turned The Beatles on to marijuana. But it was funny. (the Bob Paul is referring to is Bob Dylan.)
John:Rubber Soul was the pot album, and Revolver the acid.
John: Bob Dylan had heard one of our records where we said, “I can’t hide,” and he had understood, “I get high.” He came running and said to us, “Right, guys, I’ve got some really good grass.” How could you not dig a bloke like that? He thought we were used to drugs. We smoked and laughed all night. He kept answering our phone, saying, “This is Beatlemania here.” It was ridiculous. (the song he’s referring to is “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”)
John: We were smoking marijuana for breakfast during that period. Nobody could communicate with us; it was all glazed eyes and giggling all the time. In our own world.
Our Free 420 Concert in the Park on April 20th, 2011 was SNOWED OUT so we had a last minute change of venue. A big thank you to Christiano’s Pizza in Green Lake, Wisconsin for allowing us to take our 420 Concert indoors and into their venue. It was a awesome event, great fellowship and excellent music. Thank you to all who participated.
Here are some of the highlights from our musical entertainers Dave Sky and A Royal Clark:
This video of the band A Royal Clark and is from the 2nd annual Northern Wisconsin NORML 4/20 concert. A Royal Clark had also volunteered their talents to the 13 Band Cannabis Jam in September of 2010. They are a local band from the Beaver Dam area and you can catch them, well…as the bands Facebook page says best:
The sets are a versatile mix of rock, country, and blues that can really stomp and still get sweet. The tunes are honest, covered in the dust of the towns we’ve kicked around in.

“No Knock Raid,” written and performed by Toronto-based musician Lindy, is a searing indictment of one of the most aggressive, ubiquitous, and mistaken tactics in the War on Drugs.
Consider only the most recent raid to cause a national outrage: On May 5, 2011, 26-year-old Jose Guerena, who survived two tours in the Iraq War, was shot and killed during a raid on his house by a Pima County, Arizona SWAT team that fired dozens of bullets through his front door. Guerena, married and a father of two, had just finished a 12-hour shift at a local mine. Law enforcement sources claim he was involved in narco-trafficking but have yet to produce any evidence supporting that claim. Officers involved in the death have been cleared of wrongdoing.
Guerena’s death is not an isolated incident. As USA Today reports, an astonishing 70,000 to 80,000 militarized police raids take place on a annual basis in America, many of them on mistaken suspects and many of them ending with injury or death for police and citizens alike.
As Reason Contributing Editor Radley Balko and others have documented, the militarization of standard police practice is a direct consequence of the modern-day War on Drugs, started 40 years ago by President Richard Nixon – and perpetuated by every administration since. (For a comprehensive report on the failure of the drug war to achieve any of its stated goals, read “Ending the Drug War: A Dream Deferred,” by Law Enforcement Against Prohibition.)

2: Reggae/Jam Influenced Milwaukee Music.
Hailing from Milwaukee, Recalictrant brings a funky reggae influenced hip-hop jam rock everywhere they go. Conceived in 2002 as an underground hip-hop project, the group quickly found themselves gravitating towards live performance incorporating musical instruments. While staying true to hip-hop roots, the band began experimenting with different styles, combining elements of rock, reggae, funk, and jam influences to create a sound that is purely Recalcitrant.
With focus on original music that has been described as “progressive reggae”, live performance is always a fun filled energetic event. 2010 found the band sharing the stage with national acts such as, The Heavy Pets, and Cosmic Railroad, and solidifying festival appearances through out the Midwest. Great things are on the horizon, and we invite you to join the fun!
Take a laser and point it directly at a watermelon filled with wonder, joy, love, consciousness , hope, excitement, and fulfillment and pull the trigger exploding the watermelon into thousands of pieces. If the watermelon’s seeds were to then planted into every person that was within distance to at least notice the laser, you might have a experience similar to the sound waves created by Undercover Organism.
Mixing electronics with a conventional funk jam band, Undercover Organism has shown that it is capable of raging your face off. Many sets are purely improvised with ever changing sounds, instruments, and musicians. The Organism is constantly evolving and always finding new ways to keep the crowd moving. You won’t know until you own a laser beam or see the show.

Ed Thompson, brother of former Governor and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson, discusses how the diagnosis of Stage Four Pancreatic Cancer has changed his outlook. Thompson was diagnosed last September while campaigning for the Wisconsin State Senate, effectively taking him out of the race (which he only lost by about one-half of one percent of the votes cast). Recorded on June 17, 2011, many of these remarks were shared a month earlier when Ed addressed the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Group’s annual convention in Madison as they awarded him “humanitarian of the year”. It was his first speech since before last fall’s election.
This will be the second annual Free 420 Concert in the Park hosted by the Northern Wisconsin chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
Green Lake Wisconsin will come alive with the one of the first spring outdoor concert event of the year. Featuring a repeat performance from A Royal Clark, who participated in the September 18th “13 Band Cannabis Jam” for Friends of Jay Selthofner. Music from A Royal Clark, possible other bands/entertainment and spoken words by hemp cannabis activists will fill the air. This is not Madison and filling the air with cannabis smoke is not allowed, in fact; smoking of any form maybe prohibited in Deacon Mills park. But there might be artists spinning fire, if you know what we mean!
