Northern Wisconsin NORML to table at the Big Green Sustainable Music Festival August 16, 2014

Mark your calendar for this Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 for the 3rd Annual Big Green Sustainable Music Festival (http://thebiggreenfest.com/), which will be held from Noon – 10pm at the Kimberly Amphitheater in Sunset Park, Kimberly, WI.

NORML Rich will be there representing Northern Wisconsin NORML. Stop by and say hi! This is the 2nd year that we will have a table at the music festival.

The festival features live music, local food and marketplace, handcrafted beers, speakers and exhibits.

This near zero waste public festival raises awareness of sustainability, encourages community involvement, supports diversity, and enhances our creative culture.

Proceeds from the event benefit Sustainable Fox Valley, a non-profit 501c(3), to further its goals for the Fox Valley Region of Wisconsin:

Resilient and self-reliant local economies
Opportunities for all to thrive in their community
A healthy natural environment

Numerous volunteers from last year’s event returned to help spread the message that healthy, fun, thriving — sustainable — communities start with us. Our heartfelt thanks for their inspiring accomplishments in 2013:

More than 800 people attended
Only slightly more than half an ounce of waste per attendee went to the landfill

Richard A. Martin, Jr. grew up in the Fox Valley. He graduated from Appleton West High School in 1985.

He joined the Military after that, and is a 12 year veteran of the United States Army, where he he served as a medic during Operation Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and Operation Joint Endeavor. Affordable healthcare for American citizens is a high priority for him.

Mr. Martin took an interest in Politics after leaving the service. When serving our country, Rich swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. He took that oath very seriously. However, upon returning home, he found that so many of the freedoms and liberties he fought to defend, were being legislated away here at home.

Rich is a very civic minded citizen and volunteers in his community. He is also a member of the American Legion, Appleton Post 38, an avid sportsman and fisherman, and is a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Richard Martin, JR. is not a business owner, and is not beholden to any corporate or private interests. He is a concerned citizen who has done a great deal of research into his local and state government processes. He hopes that you will vote for him and give him a chance to work for you.
