“I am a patient” video planned creates unique opportunity
Americans for Safe Access (www.safeaccessnow.org) is making their first viral video and they want you to be in it!
Their organization wants you to send them a picture of yourself holding a sign that reads “I am a patient” and they will use it for the movie!
They want to highlight how incredibly diverse our movement is – how patients cross race, gender, class and age lines. We hope to show that we’re not criminals but everyday members of every community in this country.
So, send in a picture that shows who you are – visibly disabled or not. Take it at work, at home, at the hospital, in front of a landmark in your city, with your kids, with your partner, all by yourself or with your activist group. Include your supporting organizations banner(s) or be creative for this great opportunity.
One idea a member suggested was to go around and use this as a talking point with people in your community and an opportunity to reach out to other patients in your area. Northern Wisconsin NORML plans to provide an outlet in our area for those who do not have the capabilities to do this project themselves, please try to do the same.
It’s simple! Just take the picture and e-mail it to Rachel@safeaccessnow.org (you can also mail it to us at the address below). Take a look at ASA staffer Autumn in her pic!
Not a patient? Send us a picture with a sign that says who in your life is a patient!
We’re putting the video together this month, so get us those pictures soon!
Thanks! Your friends at ASA
PS: We will NOT use your name or any identifying information, but we will use the full picture, so please keep that in mind when sending it! If you don’t want to e-mail the picture, you can mail it to ASA HQ: 1322 Webster Street, Suite 402 Oakland, CA 94612
