Samuel Anderson (R) vs Samba Baldeh (D) for AD 48

Assembly District 48 is in Dane County and primarily the City of Madison. The District was formerly held by Melissa Sargent, cannabis reformer and lead author of Assembly Bill 220 “Legalize Opportunity”, the 2019-20 bill to legalize adult use cannabis in Wisconsin.

On the position of marijuana reform, we have to thank Wi Eye for the candidate interviews and “marijuana” question. It is nice to hear their views in their voices and watch their mannerisms.

On September 1, 2020, WisconsinEye senior producer Steve Walters interviewed Samuel Anderson (R-Madison) who is running for the 48th Assembly District in upcoming general election.

During the first seconds of the interview the topic of recreational marijuana comes up by the interviewer because the candidate makes it a campaign platform priority and Samuel Anderson (R) provides his insight on his support of marijuana reform, including legalizing adult use cannabis.

Samuel Anderson Campaign Platform on official campaign website:

Criminal Justice Reform

I believe that it is past time to reform our criminal justice system in Wisconsin. We need to ensure that our law enforcement and minority communities are not put in a position to fail. I will do everything I can to legalize recreational marijuana in the state of Wisconsin and pardon non-violent drug offenders to get them out of prisons and back into the economy and their families. I believe that the first big step in reforming this system is eliminating the largest cause of incarceration in the US and Wisconsin.
