AD 46: Fitzgerald (D) vs Quimby (R)
Listed as a competitive assembly district with the likely advantage going to the Democrats with a projected 55.7% of the vote.
The Assembly District 46 new maps had drawn in a freshman incumbent, but she (Melissa Ratcliff) will be seeking a Senate seat, leaving this district as an open seat. I highly expected a primary battle on both sides of the isle for this seat and was surprised when it ended up with these two candidates.
This is the rare district election in which both candidates support legalization of marijuana for Wisconsin. The voters in and around the Waterloo, Marshall, Cottage Grove, Deerfield, Lake Mills, Cambridge, Rockdale and Fort Atkinson areas of Dane and Jefferson County should be proud to both candidates supporting legalization efforts.
Joan Fitzgerald (D – Fort Atkinson)
Retired public school teacher who was elected twice to the Jefferson County Board.
Joan Fitzgerald told me: “I support the legalization of marijuana for both recreational and medicinal purposes.”
Joan received an A rating from NORML.

Jenifer Quimby (R-Waterloo)
Serving the city of Waterloo since 2008 as an Alder, 2011 as school board member & resigned in 2019 when elected Mayor.
Quimby was in a eight (8) was Republican primary in 2021 during a special election. It was noted that she was the only Republican in that primary battle that supported legalization of marijuana. She received and maintained an A rating from NORML.

In the event that we end up with divided government in the 2024-25 legislation session, the official formation of The Wisconsin Cannabis Caucus would be a must first step towards reform. The official establishment of this Caucus will represent the growing, bipartisan support in Wisconsin.
Although session as ended we still urge you to contact your elected officials. The top four action alerts are still functionable on The Wisconsin Cannabis Activist Action Network for you immediate use.
