Ed Vocke (D) vs Mary Felzkowski (R) for Senate District 12
The 12th District of the Wisconsin Senate is located in north-eastern Wisconsin, and is composed of parts of Vilas, Oneida, Florence, Lincoln, Marinette, Langlade, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano and Forest Counties.
Ed Vocke (D) said reasons for running for office are that he saw decline in the quality of life for citizens all around me in our state, and made the decision to use his energy to put the State back in order after a decade that has decimated our middle class, stripped funding from our public schools, and given away hard-earned tax payer dollars to foreign corporations like Foxconn.
Ed Vocke supports the total reform of cannabis laws in Wisconsin.
His answers to the 2020 Candidate Questionnaire are as follows:
Over three dozen US states and territories, not including Wisconsin, are regulating marijuana for medical and/or adult-use, despite marijuana’s federal illegality. Ending federal prohibition would alleviate the tension between these states and the US government and allow states to set their own policies free from federal interference. Please provide a position statement regarding legalizing the medical use of marijuana. |
Wisconsin is embarrassingly behind in the legalization of Marijuana nationwide, and should move forward with legislation in order to create the health and economic support that WI citizens deserve. |

Marijuana offenses should be expunged from the record and the disproportionate cycle of incarceration is a black eye on racial equity and Social justice in Wisconsin. |
The prohibition of marijuana allows for the disproportionate criminalization of black and brown Wisconsinites, despite similar rates of consumption across all races and ethnicities. The impacts of marijuana criminalization are far reaching and include long-lasting collateral consequences well beyond the criminal charge. Do you support the automatic expungement of non-violent marijuana possession convictions? |

Legalizing the responsible adult-use of marijuana provides states the opportunity to take marijuana off the street corner and place it behind an age-verified counter to better provide for consumer and public safety and prevent youth access. Taxing and regulating the adult-use of marijuana also provides economic stimulus through job creation and tax revenue.
