Marisabel Cabrera is seeking her second term as an assembly representative from Milwaukee. She has not co-sponsored any marijuana legislation her first term in office.  Elected in 2018, she did sit on the Assembly Committee on State Affairs assigned the medical marijuana bills for the 2019-2020 session. Her first term in office she had not made public statements about the issue. She received a failing grade from NORML during the Smoke the Vote Project for the 2019-20 legistive session.

On July 22, 2020, WisconsinEye senior producer Steve Walters interviewed incumbent Rep. Marisabel Cabrera who is running for re-election for the 9th Assembly District in the upcoming partisan primary election.

During the 2020 interview she did indicate she supports marijuana reform, medical and would take a step further and support recreational. Recreational because of social justice and revenue. Watch the interview below, it is cued to start at the “marijuana question”.

OR

On July 23, 2020, WisconsinEye senior producer Steve Walters interviewed Christian Saldivar (D-Milwaukee) who is running for the 9th Assembly District in the upcoming partisan primary election.

During the interview, Chrisitian Sladivar does not even need to wait for a “marijuana” question from the interviewer. When the question about the budget shortfalls are presented, Sladivar explains why and how he would work on marijuana reform as a candidate. I could retype his words (and if someone does transcribe this part of the interview we will archive it), but in the mean, it only takes a couple minutes to listen and watch his response below, so do it.

In addition, Sladivar responded very favorably to a candidate survey about marijuana reform which you can review here.
