Rep Bob Kulp Assembly District 69 Announces Retirement, co-sponsors medical marijuana

Is there hope for medical marijuana yet in Wisconsin? It is coming eventually and this election cycle will change the landscape again. Let’s journey to a town of Strartford where Rep. Bob Kulp has announced his retirement.

I was really hoping he would have announced his co-sponsorship of the bipartisan medical marijuana bill in the Fall of 2019, but that never came and the writing was on the wall. Early in January of 2019 he and fellow Republican Assembly Reps. Krug, Snyder and Sprios hinted of joining the other members of the GOP assembly in supporting medical marijuana in a first step way, design a bill to get a public hearing.

Now comes to the bill to create a medical marijuana program for Wisconsin. No bill is perfect and it is pretty clear that it is an uphill battle to get a public hearing. So we have to give some thanks to Rep. Kulp for his elected service and I am happy to announce he will be co-sponsoring the bill to create a medical marijuana program for Wisconsin.

This is important because, although we do not know which committee this new bill will be assigned to yet, we do know the Rep. Kulp sits on the 2019 Assembly Committee on State Affairs which does oversee the bi-partisan medical marijuana bill by Testin/Erpenbach, which is Senate Bill 507 and Assembly Bill 570 .

So his retirement leaves the district as a unknown for the 2020-2021 legislative cycle at this point. I will keep you up date as candidates announce. The last two sessions he ran unopposed and he won the district in 2014 with 69% of the vote.

So if you live in Neilsville, Granton, Lynn, Chili, Spencer, Marshfield, Startford, Unity, Colby, Ferwood, Owen, Curtis, Dorchester, Abbotsford or Edgar or the rural areas surrounding, their is a job opening in your district!
