Decriminalization bill just introduced

On October 30th, 2019, Reps. David Crowley (D) and Shelia Stubbs (D) introduced legislation to decriminalize minor marijuana possession.

Send a message to your lawmakers now in support of decriminalization

Under current law, possession of any amount of marijuana is a misdemeanor that carries up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The pending measure eliminates the penalty for the possession of up to 28 grams (about 1 ounce) of marijuana.

This bill is long overdue, but it still faces opposition from some legislative leaders.

If we sit quietly, powerful leaders like Assembly Speaker Vos and Senate Majority Leader Fitzgerald will kill this bill. We must use our voices to speak up and demand that minor marijuana possession offenders, many of them young people, should not be saddled with a criminal record and the lifelong penalties and stigma associated with it.

Tell your lawmakers to back decriminalization of minor marijuana possession
