Senator Tiffany opposing decriminalization of marijuana
Think of all the children and young adults Senator Tiffany wants to make criminals just because they used marijuana. Decriminalization means replacing “crimes” with “fines” and if Senator Tiffany would think of the children, he would think differently. Past marijuana convictions could have future implications on college funding/housing, grants, scholarships, jobs and even future work in the legal cannabis industry that is in the USA, now that it is 2019… … .. not 1919 Senator Tiffany!

Hearings begin on decriminalizing marijuana
MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) Governor Tony Evers’ plan to decriminalize marijuana is proving predictably contentious.
Several Republican members of the legislature’s Joint Finance Committee made pointed criticisms. Senator Tom Tiffany with the “think of the children” argument: “I find it outrageous that he [Governor Tony Evers] claims to be ‘for the children’ when we are beginning to understand the impact of marijuana on the brain, especially for young people.”
Democratic Senator Jon Erpenbach said many adults could benefit: “We’re not just going to shove pot onto everybody. We have to be adults about this discussion.”
There is growing support in the legislature for legalization of marijuana for medical purposes, which was opposed by former governor Scott Walker. But allowing or decriminalizing recreational use is less popular among lawmakers.
Evers’ budget would allow individuals to carry up to 25 grams of marijuana for personal use, and also allow manufacture and distribution of up to 25 grams of pot. Evers had said earlier that he would favor a statewide referendum on recreational marijuana, and would sign a bill based on voters’ wishes.
The 12th District of the Wisconsin Senate is located in north-eastern Wisconsin, and is composed of parts of Vilas, Oneida, Florence, Lincoln, Marinette, Langlade, Menominee, Oconto, Shawano and Forest Counties.
