Fond du Lac County Committee Approves Placing Marijuana Referendum on April Ballot
Placing a marijuana referendum on the spring election ballot has cleared its first hurdle.
At their meeting Tuesday night the Fond du Lac County Public Safety committee voted three to two in favor of a resolution to place an advisory referendum on the April 2 ballot.
Committee members Gary Will and Mike Beer voted against.
If the county board of health approves the resolution at their October 2 meeting the full county board would vote on the matter at their October 17 meeting.
County Board supervisor Mary Hayes sponsored the resolution.
Hayes says the referendum would be advisory only and would give people a chance to voice their opinion.
The referendum would ask three questions; If residents favor legalizing marijuana, legalizing for medical purposes only, or keeping marijuana illegal.
