Located at the District #1 Old Schoolhouse at 110 N. 2nd St, Mount Horeb, WI 53572, this is a public event taking place between 7pm – 9pm CST. It is being hosted by the Southwest Wisconsin Area Progressives (SWWAP).
Mt. Horeb area’s State Senator, Jon Erpenbach will speak on two pieces of medical marijuana legislation that had been circulating for co-sponsorship last month – Assembly Bill 75 and Senate Bill 38, the Compassionate Cannabis Care Act, as well as Assembly Joint Resolution 7 and Senate Joint Resolution 10, legislation that would authorize a non-binding statewide referendum on legalizing medical marijuana in 2018.
Twenty-eight states have legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes, including Wisconsin’s neighbors Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. Recent national polling from May 2016 shows that 89 percent of Americans support medical marijuana.
The featured performer for the evening is Rick Harris, a wonderful talent from Mineral Point. The evening will also feature local Mt. Horeb area residents. Perhaps you? Whether a song, a poem, a story or a joke, all are invited to spend up to 10 minutes on stage.
Individuals or groups can sign up the evening of the event. The open mic format will provide for an interesting evening of variety and a current issue.
