This Wednesday, December 7th from 5-8 p.m. there will be a very informative meeting at UW Oshkosh Reeve Union Hall discussing the Cannabis hemp plant. This will be a meeting of facts regarding the Cannabis plant and putting the fiction/lies told about it to the curb.
Its funny how we have all this talk about “green energy” but the lowly Hemp plant continues to be demonized and not utilized for what God intended us to use it for, mainly food, fiber, fuel and medicine! The only reason this plant has not been utilized for what it was given to us for is pure greed. Our forefathers have been rolling in their graves with the lies told about this wonderful plant for the past 85 years.
You want green energy? We have it! Clean burning fuel grown by our farmers. No need for the wars we have waged or the lands we polluted for the love of a fossil fuel. The Cannabis hemp plant is a gift from God, the healthy food and wonderful fiber this plant so abundantly produces is unreal! But the most important use of this plant is its medicine.
There is not another plant on earth that has more medicinal value then the Cannabis hemp plant. Big Pharmaceuticals are shaking in their boots with what will be discussed at this meeting. A non-toxic cure for many diseases.

In an effort to cut costs, it appears Wisconsin may becoming soft on crime.
Wisconsin Public Defenders Office
The State Public Defender’s Office is seeking alternatives to certain crimes. These changes would save the State over $7.7 million in the next biennial budget.
According to “Overview of State Agency Major Request Items”, a document put together by the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, the Public Defender’s Office is looking to amend several crimes to become mere ordinance violations. One of those crimes…drug possession.
This is the exact wording of the proposal…
“Amend s. 961.41 of the statutes to provide that all first and second offense drug possession violations, other than for methamphetamine, involving 25 grams or less be reduced to an ordinance violation provided there is reasonable doubt that the individual was not manufacturing, distributing or delivering the drug.”
But it doesn’t stop there. The Public Defender’s Office wants to make further corrections to drug laws by making third time drug possession a misdemeanor charge.
“With low risk offenders, evidence based decision making shows they don’t need much intervention and that was the overlying theme to these issues,” Randy Kraft, Communications Director for the State Public Defender’s Office said.
Lieutenant David Poteat, Director of the Brown County Drug Task Force, calls the changes absurd.
“To say that they’re low risk offenders I don’t think is realistic. If you look at heroin in particular, that is tied to so much of our property crime in the area, it’s unreal. So people using heroin are also ones stealing from stores, stealing from homes, breaking into cars. It’s connected to so much other crime than just that,” Poteat stated.
The changes will not only cut down on 7,000 cases annually, but will reduce costs by an estimated $713,000 in 2013-14 and $1,426,000 in 2014-15.
“The justice system we have in Wisconsin does come at a price tag to our taxpayers,” Randy Kraft commented. “For us to fix some areas that need an increase in funding, we also have to identify issues where it would save monies as well.”
Kraft says in order to advance other programs, “the only way the agency could submit the increases was to identify corresponding decreases.”
Poteat disagrees.
“The Sheriff’s Department has a budget as well. Each department has to do their part to maintain that budget and keep costs down. We try to operate as efficiently as possible, but you cannot do that at the risk of the public.”
While the Public Defender’s Office is looking at decreasing the cost of crime, they’re also looking at increasing pay for assistant public defenders and private bar attorneys. The increase in salaries comes at a cost of over $9million.
But first State lawmakers must agree to the changes. If adopted, the law changes would become effective July 1, 2013.

NORML invites the public to join hundreds of likeminded marijuana law reformers at the nation’s only annual conference dedicated to ending cannabis prohibition.
Due to a shortage of available funds to pay for insurance for The Great Midwest Harvest Festival, I have teamed up with several other interested parties to organize The 1st Annual Pre-Harvest Open Disc Golf Tournament or PHO for short. This tournament will take place on Saturday, September 22nd, at Heistand Park in Madison.
The format of the tournament will be two rounds of best-shot doubles, with the first round being played to determine what pool (Flight) you will play in during the second round. The cost will be $70 per team ($35 each), with a 60% payout in prize money, and the remaining 40% going to benefit Harvest Fest.
We would love to make this an annual event, so it is important that the first PHO gets off to a good start. We cannot do this without your help. There will be need for several volunteers, and any small contribution of time, money, or know how is greatly appreciated! I have seen this type of fundraiser work for other causes and with the growing popularity of the sport, I am extremely confident that it can work for us.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws provides activists who support the reform of laws regarding Industrial Hemp, Medical Marijuana and Recreational Cannabis the tools to make a difference in the community the represent. There has been renewed interest in the Milwaukee and greater Milwaukee area in forming a local chapter of NORML which lead to volunteers stepping forward to help organize a exploratory meeting on January 3rd, 2011.
The meeting was held at the Brewing Grounds for Change was a huge success drawing activists statewide, including members of Northern Wisconsin NORML. The great Milwaukee area activists deserve the credit for spear heading as well as organizing the event that even drew the attention of the 2010 Wisconsin Independent Candidate for Jim Langer. On February 3, 2020, the Milwaukee Press Club hosted a panel discussion with professionals and politicians to discuss the ongoing debate surrounding the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes and whether the Wisconsin Legislature and Governor Tony Evers should approve it. Panelists include: Cecilia J. Hillard, Associate Dean for Research and Director of Neuroscience Research Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin; Angela Janis, state of Wisconsin psychiatrist and former chief medical officer at LeafLine Labs in Minnesota; and Rep. A NEW VOICE FOR THE YOUNG
There’s soon to be a new book floating around college campuses that will be the must read for all students. The book is Anarcho Grow, T.A. Sedlak’s debut novel.
Taking a page, or rather, a cover page, from fellow favorite author of college students, Tom Robbins, T.A. Sedlak hired Les LePere to create what could be the flashiest cover in any bookstore. It looks like a conglomeration of the best parts of one’s photos after a vacation to Costa Rica. It’s intricate with things hidden behind each leaf and tree. One can become lost in it for days.
The writing holds one enough that it won’t take more than a few days to get through it. The story’s protagonist had done volunteer work in a small village in Costa Rica when in college. After college he returns, thinking he can help the people more by introducing them to guerrilla growing, clandestine outdoor marijuana cultivation similar to the method used in Northern California. The marijuana is being shipped back to the States by way of catamaran boat when the C.I.A. catches wind and is soon on his trail. All this has transpired before the reader opens the book, leaving a quick suspenseful run to the finish.
T.A.’s Anarcho Grow doesn’t contain the flowery prose of Tom Robbins’s novels. It’s straight diction as prescribed by William Strunk and E.B. White. However, it’s not necessarily the language that captivates young people with Robbins’s books. It’s the exotic settings, illegal activities, romantic heroes, and views on society that one can’t find elsewhere. Anarcho Grow is bound to find a place between Breakfast of Champions and Even Cowgirls Get The Blues on college kids’ shelves.
