Activist thoughts for an anti-activist world
Since I have become a commissioned activist team member for NORML I have been flooded with many emails, mainly thanking me for my work. Something else has come up a number of times as well, the wonderful question “Can you get me some pot?”
With a huge smile on my face I answer this question with sorry but I don’t smoke. This blows people away. To think that to be an activist for marijuana you must be a user as well is the norm for most people Im sure. It is an illegal drug (unfortunate as this may be). That is why my work for NORML is even more important.
I am a true believer in the power of marijuana and to do it being clean and sober my message shows a greater importance. It is a drug almost everyone can benefit from. It would help the sick, create jobs, save our country from this recession, and make me one happy momma. That is why I get out everyday and do what I do.
Now let me clarify a few things. I was a user of the drug and wish to be once again when the time is right. A few things have happened in my life that marijuana is not an option for me at this time. I wont get into them at this time, they would only bore you. This is not the way it should be but it is the way it is. I’ve come to terms with it. It was a hard thing to let go of and still have trouble not smoking on many days. Those days where my joints are so stiff and achey are the worse. That is why this issue is so important to me. With so many people out there not receiving their medicine because its illegal we need all the help we can get. So smoker or not if you believe marijuana can save this country get out there and let the people know.
Smoker or not you too CAN be an activist. Smoker or not you CAN stand up for you rights. Smoker or not you CAN make a difference in this world. Thats what I plan to do. What are you willing to do? NORMLKim taking small steps for a better tomorrow.
