Wow, this is amazing news. When I became active back in October 2009 there was only one meeting choice to go to if you wanted to be NORML. There are always many ways to support marijuana reform and make a difference in your community, but I wanted to find out more about the organization NORML and how I could help them. So I set out for Madison to see what all the buzz was about. Multiple ways to help, active marijuana legislation and a network of people working hard of the issue on behalf of us in Wisconsin is what I found, so I joined them.
Multiple events, passed medical marijuana referendums and stagnant legislation over the past two years has lead to a marijuana movement in Wisconsin which continues to grow! The week of September 12th looks to offer some choices for marijuana activists with FIVE different NORML chapters holding meetings throughout the state.
1) September 12th 7:00-9:00pm Madison NORML meeting. Location: Wil Mar Center Youth Room in basement 7-9pm, Wil Mar Center 953 Jenifer St. Madison, WI 53703.
2) September 12th, 7-8:30pm Southeastern Wisconsin NORML meeting. Location: Brewing Grounds for Change Cafe located at 2008 N. Farwell Ave in Milwaukee, WI
3) September 14th, 6:00-8:00pm Eau Claire NORML meeting. Location: L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library – Eau Claire Room, 400 Eau Claire Street in Eau Claire, WI 54701
4) September 15th, 6:00-8:00pm Northern Wisconsin NORML Meeting. Location: Harmony Cafe, 233 E. College Ave, Appleton, WI 54911

Marathon County Board to Vote on Placing Medicinal Marijuana Question on November Election Ballot
By Kurt Hase June 28, 2018 Wausau, WI
On June 25th The Health and Human Services of Marathon County Committee a part of the Marathon County Board voted 4 to 1 to move a non-binding medicinal marijuana question for a final vote to the full County Board to take place on July 24th allowing voters across the entire county to weigh in on this issue at the mid-term election this November 6th. First there will be an educational meeting of the full County Board on July 19th which is open to the public for comment, where the vote at the meeting on the 24th of July is not open to public comment. Both of these County Board meetings will take place at the Marathon County Courthouse located at 500 Forest Street Wausau, WI in room B150 at 7 pm.
I ask all those who would like to see the people of Marathon County get the opportunity to weigh in on the issue of medicinal marijuana to please respectfully contact the district members of the Board and show up in person to these meetings. In addition, communicate your thoughts to any and all media outlets and spread the word through all social media platforms to supporters and activists. This is the question that should be on the November 6th election ballot:
“SHOULD THE STATE OF WISCONSIN ALLOW INDIVIDUALS WITH DEBILITATING MEDICAL CONDITIONS TO USE AND SAFELY ACCESS MARIJUANA FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES IF THOSE INDIVIDUALS HAVE A WRITTEN RECOMMENDATION FROM A LICENSED WISCONSIN PHYSICIAN? “
Thanks to all of our supporters now and in the future.
Often times, we get so wrapped up in fighting the good fight we forget to thank our hard working representatives that truly have our backs. With that said, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the supporters in our state government who sponsored AB 220 which is aimed at bringing real reform to Wisconsin’s cannabis laws. Please join me in sending these folks an email or a post on their Facebook page thanking them for their contributions to our cause. They are important to our success and we appreciate them very much. Just click their name to get their contact info.
From all of us here at Northern Wisconsin NORML we say THANK YOU for everything you do to help the people of Wisconsin work toward changing our antiquated cannabis laws. We appreciate your efforts and will work hard to help you in any way we can.
NORML or National Organization of the Reform for Marijuana Laws has long advocated the decriminalization of cannabis for over 40 years. Its founder, current leaders and nationwide chapter representatives describe the patchwork of state and municipal laws that allow medical marijuana, while the federal government still regards cannabis as a dangerous narcotic. Voters in the US are increasingly recognizing the positive aspects of accepting and controlling medical marijuana in their communities for its medicinal benefits, as well as for its potential to generate needed tax revenue.
“a NORML life” chronicles the state of medical marijuana in America through interviews with patients, caregivers, activists and doctors. The filmmakers visit locations such as California, Oregon, Washington and Washington DC where cannabis medicine is being regulated for patients. Many interviews were made at Seattle’s Hempfest 2010 and at recent NORML (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) conferences.

Zunker: Recreational marijuana in appropriate amounts should be legalized. We have too many people who are being treated as if they are threats to society for marijuana. Our jails and prisons are overcrowded as a result and there is a surge in for-profit prisons. Criminal justice should never be about profit, ever. Where we can see the revenue stream that benefits society is through marijuana taxation. And we need to legalize medical marijuana because no one should be forced to suffer from a health condition or side effect that can be relieved through its use.
Early in 2019 Tiffany also seemed to know his Republican colleagues in the Assembly were working in their caucus to put a medical marijuana bill together for Wisconsin.

Assembly Bill 750 lead author was Rep. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma) who is one of the three assembly districts in the 12th Senate District. Senator Tiffany did not co-sponsor this legislation (SB683) in the Senate. He Failed!
