Tangerine Dream wins 2010 High Times Cannabis Cup
The High Times Cannabis Cup is always held in Amsterdam during the week of Thanksgiving. This year, the 23rd Cannabis Cup was held from November 21st-25th 2010. The event allows judges from around the world to sample and vote for their favorite marijuana strains. A team of VIP judges decide which seed company has grown the best marijuana. Beginning with the 6th Cup, the founder Steven Hager began fusing counterculture spirituality into the event and using the time 420 (cannabis culture) as an important ceremonial moment.
Expected guests and artists to attend the ‘First Generation Hip Hop Tribute’ are among others; Kid Cudi, Curren$y, Devin the Dude, GrandWizzard Theodore, Superdude, DJ Babu, Busy Bee Starski and Del the Funky Homosapien. Among the musical talents, they also had marijuana at The Hight Times Cannabis Cup.
Cannabis Cup is one of the oldest Annual Cannabis Award Shows in the world. Over the years the cup has grown into a multi media event including expo style a cup for best booth, glass and product. The Indica and Sativa Cups of course are represented fully, along side the Import Hash and Dutch Hash. But the coveted Cannabis Cup can only be held by one, or filled in mean.
In the Netherlands, marijuana use is decriminalized in most parts. Some of the marijuana judged is different from that of the coffee shops around Amsterdam. The High Times Cannabis Cup usually features a surprise strain or two of marijuana that is new to the culture.

Tangerine Dream is a German electronic music group founded in 1967 by Edgar Froese. The band has undergone many personnel changes over the years, with Froese being the only continuous member. Drummer and composer Klaus Schulze was briefly a member of an early lineup, but the most stable version of the group, during their influential mid-1970s period, was as a keyboard trio with Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. Early in the 1980s, Johannes Schmoelling replaced Baumann, and this lineup, too, was stable and extremely productive.
Tangerine Dream’s early “Pink Years” albums had a pivotal role in the development of Krautrock. Their “Virgin Years” and later albums became a defining influence in the genre known as New Age music, although the band themselves disliked the term.
Although the group has released numerous studio and live recordings, a substantial number of their fans were introduced to Tangerine Dream by their film soundtracks, which total over sixty and includes Sorcerer, Thief, The Keep, Risky Business, Firestarter, Legend, Near Dark, and Miracle Mile.
