Reefer Madness: 2005 Edition The Movie Musical presented in Eau Claire Nov 11-14, 2010
EAU CLAIRE — “Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical” (2005) will screen Nov. 11-14 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Inspired by the infamous 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film, the tongue-in-cheek musical comedy will be presented at 6 and 8:30 p.m. in Davies Theatre.
Alan Cumming stars as a stern traveling lecturer who tells frightened parents a frightful tale about clean-cut kids who fall into a twisted, hilarious downward spiral of reefer, sex and mayhem. Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell, Neve Campbell, Ana Gasteyer, John Kassir, Amy Spanger, Robert Torti and Steven Weber star in this screen version of the award-winning stage musical. The A.V. Club called the film “an even bigger, better, and brighter belly laugh than its still-hilarious 1936 inspiration.”
Presented by the University Activities Commission of the Student Senate, the 109-minute film is rated R.
Admission is free at the door with a Blugold Card or International Film Society membership. Community members who wish to attend campus films must purchase an annual IFS membership at the Service Center (715-836-3727) in Davies Center’s east lobby. An individual membership costs $4; a family membership costs $10.
