On Saturday, September 18th, 2010 a small rural town in the GOP Heartland bore witness to history.  The campaign of local Independent State Assembly Representative Jay Selthofner presented an awareness concert that was planned to feature ten bands and ten hours.  Selthofner’s main campaign platform of legalization of hemp cannabis was also highlighted at event.

The event also included 1966 Ford Econoline Van as a mobile campaign billboard display in a strategic downtown location.  The impromptu display featuring the concert event, articles the candidates recent work and of course, information on industrial hemp cannabis used for food, fuel, fiber, medication and taxation.

The latest edition of Selthofner’s accomplishments in Wisconsin is again hailed has a high success.  His event was held during Septemberfest in downtown Ripon, which also draws a high attendance.  Another first for the Selthofner crusade was the addition of radio to his media mix.

The campaign commercials created a buzz throughout the week as his campaign begins to reach a wider and wider audience.   B104.7FM also held a remote broadcast at the start to help kick off the awareness event.

A great cross section of the population was again represented at Selthofner’s event.  People from all walks of life came to celebrate with the campaign.   The concert even drew a repeat visit to the area from Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Jim Langer.  Technically speaking, counting the letters of support from other activists, the event received support from around the nation.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the event.

The whole event would not have been possible without the help from the individual band members and other volunteers that donated their time.  The 10 Band Jam unfortunately saw two bands fall out, but with a little help from friends they added three more and finished strong with thirteen total performances.  Without members of A Royal Clark, Blockhead, Mouse Pocket, Permagrinn, Brok’n Arrow, [the] commuter exit, Roadkill Dinnerfest, Idiopath, Smokes, Ju-Ju, Semrow, 4Legacy and P.U.N.  working as a team, these bands would not even exist, let alone help make history with the Friends of Jay Selthofner.

The high energy, educational, entertaining event allowed Selthofner to develop additional networking opportunities.  Jay uncovered support in many areas and future collaborations are upcoming.  It is  reported the concert celebration will help the candidate finish the race strong.  “This was truly amazing that so many people came out to support an issue, a campaign, an individual candidate.  This may not have been your “traditional” political event, but we are breaking away from party politics and the usual way of business, voters know this.  It is exactly what I needed to recharge my battery and go full speed until November 2nd!  See you at the finish line, with checkered flag in hand!
