Candidate Selthofner cruzin’ at Berlin Street Cruzers Car Show
This past weekend the Selthofner campaign traveled the Green Lake and Waushara County area with grace, style and speed. Just like some of the unique automobiles at the recent Berlin Street Cruzers car show stand out in the endless line, Selthofner’s campaign stands out among the rest of the politicians out there in our district.
People are not surprised to find Jay Selthofner running as Independent on marijuana reform in the heart of rural Wisconsin. As Selthofner entered the car show, he was greeted by many supporters and one of them asked Jay if he thinks he really can win. Selthofner replied, “I have learned you miss 100% of the chances you do not take in life, so I am shooting every chance I get, my aim is dead on and my target big, success is inevitable.”
Selthofner went on to add “I was not expecting to see snowmobiles riding on the water in the middle of summer as I came today, but folks did not expect to see me either. I spoke to many people today who have followed my story and campaign but this was the first time they had a chance to meet me, shake my hand and share with me their thoughts on legalizing marijuana in Wisconsin. Many of these car enthusiasts know very well that prohibition did not work with alcohol, in fact the “supercharged bootleggers” helped develop what we now know as NASCAR. The end of alcohol prohibition quickly created new industries, technologies and jobs throughout the United States. If Wisconsin moves quickly, we can come from behind and take the lead on legalizing marijuana. With marijuana laws changing from coast to coast, will Wisconsin be left behind or benefit the most?”
Serious business was discussed with community leaders and politicians Selthofner uncovered while cruising the car show. This annual car show draws a variety of exhibitors and attendees. The range of issues of district voters was just as diverse as the people discussing them. As Selthofner explained “drug policy is one of those issues that does effect everyone and interrelates with every other issue our district, state and country faces. On the same note, a change in these laws would actually have an immediate impact on every county, city, village, district or township in the state of Wisconsin. This would be very similar to what happened with the end of prohibition of alcohol, only more enhanced opportunities for everyone because of the versatility of the hemp cannabis plant.
