Help defeat Senate bill 258 – write to your senators today!
At a time when 14 states have legalized or decriminalized marijuana to some degree, and many more are considering similar actions, there are still a lot of people who are not only strongly opposed to all that we are trying to do – they are also actively fighting any progress that is made every step of the way. Here is an update about the latest such attempt to reverse recent marijuana law reform progress that has been made around the country.
While here in Wisconsin we have recently banned smoking in public places, a Democratic senator from California is trying to force legal Medical Marijuana users around the country to smoke, rather than eat, their medicine! This is too bizarre for words, and yet, it’s very serious and very real.
S. 258, the Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act, was introduced by Sen. Diane Feinstein and is using a media scare about “candy flavored methamphetamine” to attack medical marijuana patients and providers. You need to write to your United States Senators today and urge them to defeat this terrible bill. It would double the penalties for citizens using edible products combined with medical marijuana – not only in California but also other states that provide relief for patients.
As you may know, many patients prefer to eat, rather than smoke or vaporize, their medical marijuana, for a variety of reasons. They may bake the cannabis into brownies, or make lozenges and other types of food products which allow them to ingest marijuana without being exposed to smoke. Essentially, this bill would punish those patients who can legally use medical marijuana, but who choose to eat it rather than smoke it.
