Wisconsin marijuana initiatives found throughout state
There are many reasons to look forward to fall in Wisconsin for marijuana supporters. Fighting Bob Fest, The Great Midwest Harvest Festival, From the Land Folk Art Festival and election time are on the top of the list this year.
If everything grows as planted, voters who want the reform of marijuana laws will have harvested signatures and completed ballot initiatives throughout Wisconsin. High voter turnout is expected.
Gary Storck, President of the Wisconsin chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws urges supporters to help keep the issue of Medical Marijuana alive in Wisconsin by becoming a local organizer for a medical cannabis advisory referendum. Volunteers are needed statewide, particularly Stevens Point, Whitewater, Eau Claire and Platteville right now. The deadline for filing is fast approaching.

The City of Janesville has a number of supporters speaking directly with the city. The marijuana initiative in Janesville is going to take a few more signatures than Milton, but it can be done. Right now verification of the process is being completed. Stay tuned for further details, help will be needed big time, maybe even a special event!
The “Birthplace of the Republican Party” or better known as Ripon Wisconsin is planting its roots on the issue as well. Ripon is located within Wisconsin Assembly District 41, and is represented by Joan Ballweg, R-Markesan (Senate District 14, Luther Olsen, R-Ripon), and has a rich history of hemp cannabis in the surrounding community. An Independent candidate challenging incumbent Joan Ballweg is Green Lake resident Jay Selthofner who has an focused campaign that deals with the issue of hemp cannabis (marijuana). A number often associated with pot culture, 420 is also coincidentally the number of signatures needed to place a marijuana referendum on the ballot in Ripon. The La Crosse Medical Marijuana Advisory Referendum is also in full motion with a recent posting on facebook stating “….I know this is short notice, but the clock is ticking to the deadline of when we need to have our signatures ready to submit to the city to pass an advisory referendum. We need to collect nearly 3000 signatures in the city of La Crosse (not including the town of Shelby or other surrounding smaller communities), and in order to do this we need as many folks collecting signatures as possible. This means door to door, randomly on the street, at farmers markets, at Riverfest, and anywhere else signatures are able to be collected!”
