Signature Page Currently Being Used by Field Activists

Here is the link : http://www.northernwinorml.org/pyo/wisconsin-medical-marijuana-petition/ for a pre-written signature support page for the active legislation in Wisconsin that you can print out, sign, and mail to your legislators.

Want to make a even bigger impact, please engage your elected official directly via email, phone, or office visit. In this case, we really need you to contact your Wisconsin State Senator and Wisconsin State Assembly Representative. It is not always easy, fun or exciting, but it is activism…and well, part of democracy and some would say our civic duty. Click the PDF below to bring up some quick information to educate yourself before you call. The legislative bill numbers, brief description of the legislation and talking points are included in the pdf. If your elected official is a sponsor or supports the bill, please thank them. If not, well…here comes the hard part….talk to them (or most likely office staff) about hemp cannabis, or you may have to say marijuana. There is some education to be done to our elected officials and you are just the one to do it.

If you are not sure who your Senator and Assembly Representatives are, please use the follow link: http://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/

Or you can sign it and return it to any board member and we will collect them and make copies for both of your legislators and then present it to them along with a stack of other signed letters of support.

Also, please feel free to print multiple copies and collect signed letters from friends, family, and strangers alike. The more support we can show our legislators, the more likely it is we can achieve marijuana reform in Wisconsin!

You can also snail mail completed signature support letters to us at Northern Wisconsin NORML, PO Box 542, Ripon, Wisconsin 54971 or contact us directly at anytime to become active in collecting.

Comments

  • Revision 4 11-18-2017 is now up and live on the website.

Removed Industrial Hemp legislative information and added CBD active legislation. Also added Assembly Bill 482 to the adult use bill. No Senate bill number assigned?

also added the Senate and Assembly District notation at the bottom, if people know they should fill that out also to save me time later looking them up.

  • 2019 Wisconsin Hemp Cannabis (Marijuana) Support Form Rev 3 - 12/21/2018
As a resident of Wisconsin, I demand that our state lawmakers move swiftly to end the failed policy of marijuana prohibition and criminalization.
Never in modern history has there existed greater public support for ending the nation's nearly century-long experiment with marijuana prohibition. The 2019 legislative session will be crucial for state lawmakers to make marijuana law reform a priority.
The continued criminalization of adult marijuana use is out of step with the views of adults throughout America. Support for legalization of marijuana is at an all-time high; 78% of votes on the cannabis referenda in the 2018 general election supported legalized and regulated production and sales of marijuana.
The ongoing enforcement of cannabis prohibition financially burdens taxpayers, encroaches upon civil liberties, engenders disrespect for the law, impedes legitimate scientific research into the plant's medicinal properties, and disproportionately impacts communities of color.
It is time for state lawmakers to acknowledge this reality. It is time to stop ceding control of the marijuana market to untaxed criminal enterprises, and for lawmakers to implement common-sense regulations governing cannabis' personal use by adults and licensing its production.
Advisory referendums on marijuana in Wisconsin were on the ballots in 16 counties and two cities, and although they were non-binding, all of them were overwhelmingly approved by voters. The time is now for Wisconsin to reform our marijuana laws.
As a constituent, I urge you to make the following issues priorities when considering reforming hemp cannabis/marijuana laws in Wisconsin:
Decriminalize personal possession of marijuana. Replace criminal violations with civil violations (Fines not Crimes!) Since Michigan is now an adult useage state with limits of 2.5 ounces of personal marijuana and transfers to adults 21 and older (including out of state residents) we recommend that the state of Wisconsin decriminalizes personal possession of cannabis in Wisconsin to 2.5 ounces (70 grams) of marijuana.
Remove the felony provision for personal possession of subsequent offenses. Personal possession of cannabis is medically legal in 30+ states and recreational/adult use is legal in 10 states. This is a plant, and no one in Wisconsin deserves a felony for possessing a plant substance that a majority of United States citizens can purchase legally.
Establish a medical marijuana program allowing: a) smoking and eating cannabis. b) patients the ability to grow/cultivate their own plants or designate caregivers to do it for them. c) a structure for municipalities to govern commercial medical marijuana facilities and farmers markets. d) reciprocity with other medical marijuana states.
Establish a recreational adult use program. This is where the state licenses, regulates and taxes commercial adult use of cannabis, including cultivation and sales.

    Assembly Representative District: Senate District:

  • Got it. Thank you!

  • I would however like to see growing cannabis as something afforded to all legal adults, not just care givers and patients. Most states I am aware of do allow personal grows meeting certain requirements.
