Hemp History Week Set for June 4-10, 2012
on January 7th, 2012 at 1:10 PMIt’s time to bring hemp back to our nation’s farms. U.S. farmers want to join the thriving market for healthy and sustainable hemp. Through the 3rd Annual Hemp History Week, we’re spreading the message that we need to change federal policy on industrial hemp to reflect today’s reality and ensure a better tomorrow for America’s families and farmers, the economy, and our planet.

An important awareness week to promote. This year Hemp History Week starts the day after we host a “Potluck” Picnic featuring hemp foods while our chapter members volunteer for a non cannabis event as I, Northern Wisconsin NORML and several area orgs/business’s team up together with The State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) to promote Free Fishing Day in Wisconsin; the first weekend in June where both in and out of state residents do not need a license to fish.
One item we brought up is conducting a series of outreach meetings throughout the state during that week, one each day. Using the libraries could be key, have the libraries pull some information from the shelves on industrial hemp, etc… show people the materials available on the topic right in their own communities.
A version of the THC Tour expo event and/or a regional NORML meeting could take place also.
This could be directed at target areas that we want to build a membership base
or
districts of known legislative opposition
or
can be planned in areas where local activists have already been working and will help with the prep and public relations of the event
